Presentation
Severe headache.
Patient Data
Normal brain, brain stem, and cerebellar density.
No acute intracranial hemorrhage or obvious masses.
Small fluid density is seen along the course of the left transverse sinus indicating arachnoid granulation.
Normal brain, brain stem, and cerebellar signal.
Normal ventricular system and sulci.
There is around 5 mm fluid signal along the course of the left transverse sinus indicating arachnoid granulation with normal signal void proximally and distally.
Post gadolinium contrast images show no abnormal intracranial enhancement.
A small right frontal scalp cyst depicting diffusion restriction suggestive of a sebaceous cyst.
Prominent adenoids with mild mucosal thickening of the maxillary antra are also noticeable.
The purple arrow points towards the arachnoid granulation.
Case Discussion
This case illustrates the typical appearances of arachnoid granulation which is located in the dural venous sinuses and responsible for CSF reabsorption.
