Patient Data
Multiple bilateral calcified pleural plaques consistent with asbestos related pleural disease.
Two solid juxtapleural nodules that have been formed (largest one is marked by a purple arrow head), unchanged for two consecutive CTs consistent with round atelectasis.
Case Discussion
The first set of images show the classic appearance of asbestos-related pleural disease includes the heavy calcific pleural plaques along both hemidiaphragms.
A serial follow up CTs were obtained, the last one is included show no change in bilateral calcified plaques consistent with asbestos-related pleural disease. Additional two solid pulmonary nodules within the anterior aspect of both upper lobes without change over a year consistent with round atelectasis.
