Presentation
No clinical information provided by the ordering physician. Echo reported: Markedly dilated aortic root, mobile flap extending to aortic arch (? aortic dissection).
Patient Data
No evidence of aortic dissection.
Aneurysmal dilatation of the ascending aorta is noted from the level of the aortic sinus to the aortic arch. Aortic diameters are as below:
level of the aortic annulus: 5.6 cm in AP diameter
level of the aortic sinus: 7.2 cm in AP diameter
level of the sinotubular junction: 8.8 cm in AP diameter
mid ascending aorta: 9.3 cm in AP diameter
high ascending aorta (before the arch): 4 cm
aortic arch: 3 cm
descending aorta: 3.2 cm
The rest of the mediastinal great vessels are unremarkable.
Case Discussion
Aortic root/ascending aorta are the commonest sites involved by the thoracic aortic aneurysm.
No clinicopathologic data were available to look for the possible etiology in this young aged patient.
