Hospital admission for renal impairment with no specific pulmonary symptoms.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

A well-circumscribed cavity at the left apex with central radio-opacity surrounded by an air crescent sign.

A well-circumscribed cavity with a central soft-tissue attenuating rounded mass surrounded by an air crescent sign in the left apex.

Left upper lobe bronchiectasis changes.

Bilateral apical scarring.

Bilateral pleural effusions with right-sided predominance.

Aspergillus ( a common saprophyte living in the soil and plants) is common among immunocompromised patients. In the lungs colonizes pre-existing cavities.

Pulmonary aspergillus infection presents in a variety of forms depending on the immune status of the patient and pre-existing lung cavity

One of the risk factors for aspergilloma is the presence of underlying cavitary lung disease.

TB is the most common predisposing structural lung disease for aspergilloma.
