Atypical breast cyst: adenocarcinoma

Presentation

A 25 year old breastfeeding woman has a first line family history of breast carcinoma. She presents with a palpable mass lesion in the left breast. This is the ultrasound appearance of the lesion.

Patient Data

Age: 25
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Ultrasound shows a mixed echogenicity palpable lesion with a diameter of 4.5 cm. No increased flow on Doppler and the lesion is non tender. The skin is not red and inflamed.

Case Discussion

This is a complex lesion with a significant solid mural component.

Biopsy showed a poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. There were no pathological nodes on imaging.

Your diffrential diagnosis should include a galactocoele and a breast abscess.
