Atypical meningioma

Presentation

Patient complaining of headache and forgetfulness.

Age: 85 years
Gender: Female

CT Brain

Right parasagittal hyperdense mass with brightly and homogeneous contrast enhance and hyperostosis involving inner and outer skull table. A subgaleal component is also present. 

Case Discussion

A pathologically proven case of an atypical meningioma (WHO Grade II). 

Involvement of  the adjacent bone is frequently seen associated with meningiomas and can be hyperostotic or osteolytic. It occurs in 20-40% of cases.

Meningioma is the most common type of extra-axial neoplasm and accounts for 14 - 20% of intracranial neoplasms.
