Patient with renal functional impairment

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

MRI demonstrates enlarged kidneys replaced by innumerable cysts.

Also present are numerous cysts in the liver.

Case Discussion

Liver involvement is the most frequent extrarenal manifestation in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. Although most patients report no liver symptoms, some experience chronic manifestations related to progressive increase of the polycystic liver.
