Pain and swellig of the midfoot. No recent trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 4
Gender: Male

Sclerosis and fragmentation of the navicular bone.

Central hypointense navicular bone in all sequences, representing sclerosis. 

The abutting hyperintense areas probably represent hyperemia due to granulation tissue.

Swelling of the soft tissue surrounding the navicular bone.

Case Discussion

Köhler disease is an avascular necrosis of the navicular bone in the foot.

It typically presents in the pediatric population (4-6 years age) and there is a recognized male predilection.
