Avascular necrosis of the femoral head

Generalised weakness of the left leg.

Patient Data

Age: 40-year-old
Gender: Female

Cortical erosive destruction and sclerosis within the weight bearing portion of the left femoral head. Left acetabular subchondral sclerosis and geodes. Femoro-acetabular joint narrowing has progressed compared with the previous imaging. The features are those of AVN

The reminder pelvic bones and the right hip joint are unremarkable. Surgical clips in the left upper tight are again noted.


Case Discussion

Features are those of avascular necrosis of the left femoral head. Clear femoral head cortex collapse and superimposed sclerosis and secondary degenerative changes.
