Avulsion fracture of the 5th metatarsal styloid

Presentation

The patient accidentally twisted his left foot while walking 5 hrs ago, on examination: tenderness and swelling dorsolateral part of the left ankle/ foot, no open wound is seen.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

All X-ray views of the left foot demonstrating a fracture through the base of the fifth metatarsal involving the tarsometatarsal joint. This is in keeping with a pseudo-Jones fracture.

Incidentally, Os peroneum is seen.
