Avulsion fracture of the anterior superior iliac spine

Presentation

Young girl. Sudden onset left pelvic pain following trampoline accident.

Patient Data

Gender: Female

There is a curvilinear density projected just lateral to the left iliac spines. The anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) on the left has ill defined outline when compared to the contralateral side. The appearance is consistent with an avulsion fracture of the left ASIS.

Curvilinear density projected just lateral to the left iliac spines. Ill defined outline of the left ASIS (dotted line). The curvilinear density represents the avulsed left ASIS, which is the insertion of the left sartorius muscle.
