History of heavy smoking. Presents with hemoptysis and shortness of breath.

  • Contrast-enhanced chest CT scan shows residual contrast agent into the azygos arch.
  • Tracheobronchial calcifications are noted.

Case Discussion

  • A high injection rate was used for this patient (4 ml/s of 300 mg/ml of contrast agent).
  • Reflux of contrast agent into the azygos arch is seen in about 50% of patients where high injection rates are used 1.
