Basal cell adenoma - parotid gland

Presentation

Palpable mass in right parotid region.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Non-enhanced and contrast-enhanced CT scan shows a well-defined and homogeneously enhancing mass in the superficial lobe of the right parotid gland.

Pathology

Histologically, basal cell adenoma is characterized by the presence of uniform and regular basaloid cells.

Case Discussion

The salivary gland adenomas are divided into pleomorphic adenoma and monomorphic adenoma. Basal cell adenomas are defined as a subtype of monomorphic adenomas. Basal cell adenomas are rare benign salivary gland tumors that usually involve the parotid gland in adults.
