Slowly progressive right lower eyelid swelling with recent restriction of ocular movements
Patient Data
Soft tissue lesion involving inferolateral pre and post septal compartments of right orbit, involving the tendinous globe insertions of inferior and lateral recti, enhancing intensely in post gadolinium contrast, exerting mild mass effect on the globe without any infiltration.
Case Discussion
Patient came for imaging following a histopathological diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma. Prime purpose of imaging is to know intra orbital extension and involvement of extra ocular muscles if any. Periocular basal cell carcinoma is one the most common malignancies of the eyelid in old age. Ocular invasion is uncommon, but when it does, it leads to vision problems, secondary to extra ocular muscle invasion.
