Thunderclap headache. CT to rule out hemorrhage or reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

  • hypoplastic basilary artery

  • mild hypoplasia of the V4 segments of the vertebral arteries

  • bilateral fetal origin of the posterior cerebral artery

  • there are no associated persistent carotid-vertebrobasilar anastomoses

Case Discussion

Features of basilar artery hypoplasia with associated bilateral fetal posterior cerebral arteries. This is unlikely to be arteriosclerotic stenosis or fibromuscular dysplasia since the patient doesn't have arteriosclerotic changes, multifocal stenoses, and dilatations.
