Presentation
Cough, cold and fever for 10 days.
Patient Data
Small area of pulmonary opacity near left costophrenic angle.
Fundic shadow of stomach displaced inferiorly and medially by what appears like a thick homogeneous opacity having a curved lateral end.
On negative window, the opacity is clearly visualized as an elongated part of left lobe of liver, displacing stomach and spleen downwards.
Case Discussion
While beaver tail liver is no more than a normal anatomic variant, it may be prone to injury by blunt trauma over lower chest.
It is also interesting that this variant would be so clearly visualized on an x-ray, or on a chest x-ray for that matter.
