Benign cartilaginous lesion - long term follow up

Presentation

Heart transplant follow-up.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

4 cm well-circumscribed lytic lesion in the proximal right humeral metaphysis, endosteal remodeling and sclerotic margin.

Stable cardiomediastinal contour. Clear lungs and pleural spaces.

18 years later

ct

4 cm rounded lesion filling the medullary cavity of the proximal humeral shaft with remodeling of the physeal line and mild endosteal thinning of the cortex. No cortical breakthrough or soft tissue mass.

Narrow zone of transition and thin sclerotic margin.

Multiple dense calcifications, some of which demonstrate ring and arc morphology in a heterogeneous matrix which has attenuation up to 70 HU.

No malignant features: no cortical breakthrough, no soft tissue mass, no growth

20 years from baseline

x-ray

Slowly progressive ossification with typical features of chondroid tumor.

No features of malignancy
