Benign esophageal stricture

Presentation

Work up for dysphagia. History of chicken bone swallows about five years ago.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
Fluoroscopy

There is short segment stricture with tapering at the proximal of the cervical esophagus causing contrast media stasis upstream. 

A small size hiatal hernia is observed. 

Case Discussion

Regarding patient history, futures on barium study are most consistent with a benign esophageal stricture.

The endoscopic evaluation confirmed proximal esophageal stricture without evidence of tumoral infiltration, and the biopsy of the stricture site showed fibrous tissue without signs of malignancy.
