Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

Pseudo articulation of the right L5 transverse process and the sacral alar, and with the clinical symptoms, findings are suggestive of Bertolotti syndrome.  Minimal hip osteoarthritis.  

Case Discussion

Bertolotti syndrome is a proposed clinical-radiological condition caused by a pseudo articulation of an L5 transverse process and the corresponding sacral alar.  It is one potential cause of lower back pain.
