Direct blunt trauma to mid-arm a few hours prior. Local pain and swelling. No fracture on an external radiograph of the humerus.

Biceps muscle tear

- intact proximal end long head biceps tendon in the bicipital groove
- intact distal end of biceps tendon attached to the radial tuberosity
- intact musculotendinous junction of biceps is noted in the distal forearm
- defect filled with echoes in the biceps muscle belly (anterior mid-arm)
- intact central echogenic tendon
- torn muscle fibers retracted on both proximal and distal sites
Case Discussion
Findings favor biceps muscle tear in mid-arm due to blunt direct trauma.
