Clinically, the patient had swelling over the forefoot and was maximally tender over the same area. There is a small non-displaced fracture through the third metatarsal shaft. A bifid distal phalanx of the fifth digit was an incidental finding. This correlated clinically with a split nail and enlarged toe compared with the left foot. The patient was managed in a moonboot for their metatarsal fracture.
