x-ray

Calcific densities are noted just above the level of greater tuberosity of the right humerus.

Supraspinatus calcific tendinitis with a partial tear.

Acromion type I identified. Osteoarthrosis of the acromioclavicular articulation, with lateral acromial sloping, effacing subacromial bursa, resulting in moderate impingement.

A fluid signal is noted at subcoracoid bursa reflecting bursitis.

Left shoulder

Case Discussion

Features of bilateral calcific tendinitis of the pre-insertional part of the supraspinatus tendon. Supraspinatus tendon is the commonest site of the rotator cuff muscle tendons for calcific tendinitis (>70%) and reported to be bilateral in 10 to 25% of patients. The Calcific / formative phase can be easily depicted on plain radiographs.
