Bilateral choroid plexus cysts - antenatal

Presentation

G2P1 at 20 weeks gestation. Routine ultrasound.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

The selected ultrasound images show small rounded well-defined cysts of the choroid plexus of the lateral ventricles, measuring 7 mm on the right and 9 mm on the left.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound feature of bilateral choroid plexus cysts with no associated fetal anomalies (isolated cysts). They generally disappear by 26-28 weeks in utero and are of no significance in most cases. If there are other associated abnormalities or high risk for aneuploidy, amniocentesis is recommended.
