Diagnosis certain

Presentation

G2P1 at 21 weeks gestation.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

This video through the fetal head demonstrates bilateral well-defined small cysts of the choroid plexus (largest measures 14 mm). No other associated fetal malformations were seen.

Normal amount of the amniotic fluid.

Placenta corporeal/fundal left lateral 11 cm from the internal os.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound features of bilateral choroid plexus cysts with no other associated fetal anomalies.

They generally disappear by 26-28 weeks in utero and are of no significance in most cases. However, if seen in antenatal imaging (as in this case) it would warrant careful surveillance of the rest of the fetus due to weak associations with aneuploidy
