Incidental finding in a patient with heart failure

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

Bilateral soft tissue masses with ill-defined borders seen at the subscapular and infrascapular region, with attenuation that is similar to adjacent muscle. Note displacement of adjacent muscles not invasion.

Case Discussion

On radiology, some pathologies have pathognomonic findings and elastofibroma dorsi is one of them. The characteristic findings on CT are:

  • infrascapular and subscapular location
  • poorly defined soft-tissue masses with attenuation similar to muscle
