Bilateral hip avascular necrosis

There is mixed osteopenia and sclerosis involving both femoral heads with subchondral lucencies, no cortical collapse present. Findings are in keeping with bilateral avascular necrosis of the hips (osteonecrosis of the femoral heads).
Case Discussion
The presence of subchondral lucencies characterises this as stage III osteonecrosis as per the Ficat and Arlet classification.
