Bilateral dilated fallopian tubes are seen without free spillage of contrast from the fimbriated ends indicative of distal fallopian tube occlusion. After the cannula is removed, the uterine cavity empties quickly (normal) with delayed emptying of the dilated fallopian tubes (abnormal).
Case Discussion
Bilateral hydrosalpinges from obstruction of the distal fallopian tube is a common cause of infertility. It is usually a result of prior pelvic inflammatory disease.
