Presentation

Homeless patient. Attended ED following alleged assault 10 days previously. Swollen right face, generally tender.

Patient Data

Age: 50
Gender: Male
x-ray

Complex, bilateral mandibular fractures. Right angle of mandible fractured and distracted. Left body fracture, less distracted. Both fractures extend to gum margin.

No significant facial bony injury.

Case Discussion

This delayed presentation was referred to the oral-maxillo-facial surgical unit.

The patient was given IV antibiotic therapy to cover the gross soft tissue swelling associated with the right mandibular angle fracture and had a delayed ORIF.
