Presentation

Motorbike accident.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
  • Bilateral minimally displaced occipital condyle avulsion fractures.
  • Non displaced coronal fracture of the C4 vertebral body.
  • Fracture of the C7 left transverse process, minimally displaced.
  • Left sided rib fractures. Minimally displaced fracture of the right posterolateral 1st rib. Left transverse process fractures of T1 and T2.

Case Discussion

Avulsion fractures of the medial aspect of the occipital condyle where the alar ligament attaches represents a type 3 fracture which are potentially unstable injuries.
