Bilateral pneumothorax

Presentation

Admitted to hospital with acute respiratory distress. During patient evaluation in the ER, her condition was worsening with sudden cardiac arrest. CXR was ordered after CPR.

Patient Data

Age: 90 years
Gender: Female
x-ray
  1. bilateral pleural lines/edge
  2. bilateral lung collapse
  3. bilateral diaphragmatic depression
  4. bilateral subcutaneous emphysema
  5. no evidence of mediastinal shift 

Case Discussion

This case is presenting a catastrophic complication after CPR, with unfortunately fatal outcome.
