Bilateral tortuous vertebral arteries

Routine MRI for suspected disc disease.

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Female

Bilateral coiling of the VAs at the same level (C4 in this case) with enlarged transverse foramina.

Case Discussion

This is a known vascular anomaly and not ectasia or elongation due to increased flow or hypertension. It rarely causes any problems1.
