Bilateral vestibular schwannoma

Presentation

Moderate hypoacusia of approximately three years of evolution.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

At level of the bilateral cerebellopontine angle, lesions with similar characteristics are observed with irregular morphology, delimited borders, isointense behaivor to the withe matter in all sequences, partial restriction in DWI/ADC and with avid enhancement of the contrast medium; they project to their corresponding auditory canals causing them to widen (snow cone appearance).

Case Discussion

Schwannomas are benign tumors originating from Schwann cells.

Neurofibromatosis type 2 is the syndrome most commonly associated with multiple schwannomas, such as bilateral vestibular schwannoma.
