Presentation

Infection evaluation before initiating biotherapy treatment.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Female
x-ray
  • absence of all teeth on both jaws (bimaxillary edentation)

  • left upper maxillary opacity, suggestive of a residual root fragment

  • left mandibular sclerotic lesion surrounded by a radiolucent rim, suggestive of a focal osseous dysplasia

Case Discussion

Total edentation may result in bone resorption and shrinking of the jaws, leading to facial changes.
