Presentation

Advised x-ray of the knee following a fall. Fracture around the knee joint was suspected.

Age: 30
Gender: Male
X-ray

This is a skyline view taken for visualisation of the superior aspect of patella.

X-ray shows a ossification centre of patella on its superolateral aspect.

No e/o a fracture is noted.

Case Discussion

Case of bipartite patella. Incidental finding while looking for a fracture and can be easily misdiagnosed as a fracture.

Identified by a clear demarcation between the two parts (bi-partite) with well corticated margins.
