Presentation

Advised x-ray of the knee following a fall. Fracture around the knee joint was suspected.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

This is a skyline view taken for visualization of the superior aspect of the patella.

X-ray shows an ossification center of the patella on its superolateral aspect.

No evidence of a fracture is noted.

Case Discussion

Case of bipartite patella. Incidental finding while looking for a fracture and can be easily misdiagnosed as a fracture.

Identified by a clear demarcation between the two parts (bi-partite) with well corticated margins.
