Bipartite patella on MRI

Right knee pain and swelling of four days duration

Patient Data

Age: 25 years old
Gender: Male

A small bony fragment is seen at the superolateral aspect of the patella which shows no evidence of bone marrow edema or contusion. Moderate synovial joint effusion is noted

Case Discussion

Bipartite patella is a normal variant due to accessory ossific center and usually discovered accidentally.
