BIRADS III lesion - infiltrating ductal carcinoma

Presentation

This 50 year old client gets her annual screening mammogram. She has very dense breast parenchyma. Ultrasound is performed and this solid lesion is found in her left breast. No family history of breast carcinoma. her mom died of colon carcinoma.

Patient Data

Age: 50
Gender: Female

There is a solid lesion which is poorly circumscribed and non compressible on real time ultrasound imaging. It has no pseudocapsule. On the axial view it is as tall as broad. 

This was initially read as a fibroadenoma and short-term follow-up suggested.
