Presentation

Chronic lumbar pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Partial vertebral body fusion of L2, L3 and L4, with rudimentary intervertebral discs between them. The intervertebral foramina are wide. Lumbar lordosis is inverted.

Case Discussion

The diagnosis is lumbar block vertebra.

The block vertebra can be congenital or acquired. Congenital vertebral fusion usually occurs in the lumbar and cervical segments.
