Presentation

Obese patient. Pain in left knee and walking difficulties for one month. Varus deformity on examination.

Patient Data

Age: 10 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Skeletally immature patient.

Varus deformity of the proximal tibia.

Sclerosis and depression of the proximal tibial metaphysis, more on the medial aspect.

Case Discussion

Blount's disease is a pediatric condition resulting from local disturbance of growth of the medial proximal tibial epiphysis that results in a varus deformity (tibia vara).

The adolescent form (as in this case) invariably occurs in obese children.
