Blount disease

The MRI sequences demonstrate:
- bilateral tibia vara
- flattening with decreased thickness of the medial tibial epiphyses with a beak-shape appearance of the medial tibial metaphyses more pronounced on the left
- compensatory hypertrophy of the medial femoral condyles
- no significant lateral translation of the patellae on axial sequences
- the metaphyseal-diaphyseal angle of Drennan was at 21º on the right and 30º on the left
Case Discussion
MRI features of Blount disease which is commonly bilateral, characterized by a local disturbance of growth of the medial aspect of the proximal tibial metaphysis and/or epiphysis that results in tibia vara.
