Presentation

Vomiting with intense epigastric and chest pain.

Age: 45
ct

Left pneumothorax and pneumomediastinum with gas noted around the esophagus.

Bilateral pleural effusions.

Spontaneous esophageal perforation that occurs secondary to forceful vomiting is called Boerhaave syndrome.
