Bone cement with tumor recurrence

Presentation

A known case of giant cell tumor of distal femur; tumor excision was carried out with application of bone cement; follow-up x-ray taken after 6 months interval

Patient Data

Age: 25 years old
Gender: Male

Radiopaque material (bone cement) is noted in the distal femur on its lateral aspect.

A well defined radiolucent, expansile area is noted superior to the bone cement along the lateral margin which is seen to cause cortical thinning.

Case of recurrent bone tumor post excision and bone cementing.

The cementing of the cavity helps in evaluation of of its borders and thereby detection of new lytic areas/lesions.
