Case Discussion

Brachymetatarsia is a rare congenital disorder which results from premature closure of the growth plate.

This patient is a known case of congenital hypoparathyroidism and this short fourth metatarsal bone is likely related to this endocrine disorder. X-ray of the contralateral foot and bilateral hands would be helpful as this disorder can cause symmetrical shortening of bilateral metacarpals and metatarsals.
