Brain abscess

Headache, fever with two episodes of seizure.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

Well-circumscribed lobulated right lenticulocapsular lesion of low signal on T1, high signal on FLAIR, and T2 with a thin peripheral rim of high signal on T1, low signal on T2 with enhancement on postcontrast sequences. The DWI and ADC show central restricted difusion. Perilesional vasogenic edema extending to the temporal lobe and right cerebral peduncle with a mass effect on the midline structures.

Small vessel ischemic change is noted.

Case Discussion

The clinical presentation and the MRI features are most consistent with brain abscess.
