Brain cortical laminar necrosis

Patient with a prior history of infarction.

Patient Data

Age: 60
Gender: Female

CT shows extensive hypodensites in the left occipital lobe and left parietal lobe.


CT one month later

Computed tomography shows linear hyperdensities outlining the cortex of the previously infarcted regions which corresponds to cortical laminar necrosis.

Case Discussion

This is a case of cortical laminar necrosis, a form of ischemic brain damage.
