Ganglioglioma centered on the left middle cerebellar peduncle.
Case Discussion
Pathologically-proven ganglioglioma
Pathology report:
Immunohistochemistry
- GFAP+, Ki-67 very focally increased, NEU-N-, NFP, P53+, SYNAPT+
Diagnosis:
brainstem tumor:
cerebellar tissue, no neoplasm seen
ganglioglioma
Comment
Although most gangliogliomas are of WHO grade I, with no definitive established criteria for grade II ganglioglioma, this tumor shows a diffuse pattern, as demonstrated on NFP immunostain and very focal increase in Ki-67 proliferation index. The overall features probably favor more grade II ganglioglioma.
