Presentation

Headache, dizziness and vertigo with right limb weakness for one month.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
mri

Abnormal signal intensity lesion (T2/FLAIR high and T1 low, without diffusion restriction or T2* GRE blooming artifact) centered in the pons extending into the midbrain, medulla and left middle cerebellar peduncle. The lesion demonstrates heterogeneous peripheral patchy enhancement.

No significant hydrocephalus is seen.

Case Discussion

Brain stem gliomas presenting in the adult population are low-grade gliomas that typically occur in third and fourth decades of life as in this case.
