Brainstem glioma

Three months history of increasing headache, dizziness and visual disturbance. Slurred speech and reduced coordination and cerebellar signs on examination

Patient Data

Age: 16
Gender: Male

There is a FLAIR and T2 homogeneously  intense pontine mass extending into brachium pontis. The mass is partially encasing the basilar artery. The 4th ventricle is is partially  attenuated and displaced posteriorly, resulting in mild hydrocephalus. No transependymal fluid shift. Mild diffusion restriction is evident.

Case Discussion

The imaging findings are consistent with a brain stem glioma.
