Breast cancer with single liver metastasis

Case contributed by Shervin Sharifkashani
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

One-year history of left side breast cancer and mastectomy on follow-up schedule without any remarkable symptom.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

There is a heterogenous relatively hypodense mass lesion in posterolateral right hepatic lobe which has thick inner wall enhancement in delayed images more consistent with metastasis.

Case Discussion

Most of the liver metastasis are asymptomatic and incidentally found on surveillance programs of cancer patients and clinicians must consider the fact and be aware of that. Breast cancer with liver metastasis has the worst prognosis but can be treated with a minimally invasive procedure such as radiofrequency ablation therapy. This patient had ER(-), PR(-), HER2(+3), and KI67=38% invasive ductal carcinoma of the left breast based on the pathology report.
