Breast carcinoma

Case contributed by Dr Himanshu Mishra

The patient presented with a lump in the breast.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female

There is an irregular mildly hyperdense soft tissue lesion with an indistinct inferior margin of approximate size 4.5 x 3.4 cm  in upper and outer quadrant of right breast. The lesion infiltrates into the overlying skin resulting in thickening of skin and areola with partially retracted nipple. No obvious calcifications are seen. No significant lymphadenopathy.

Left breast appears normal.

Findings are suggestive of malignant breast mass (BI-RADS 5).

Case Discussion

The patient underwent ultrasound guided biopsy of the lesion which revealed invasive ductal carcinoma.
